Documentation of the SVN for COSMO set up at CSCS

A detailed description of the structure, the permissions and the content of the SVN for COSMO can be found as attached file below.

A power point presentation of this SVN can be found as attached file below as well.

Codes

The SVN contains the following codes for the moment:
  • COSMO and COSMO-CLM codes
  • Int2lm code
  • Grib1 library
  • FLEXPART for COSMO

Each code is stored in a separate folder.

Vendor/vendor_tags vs trunk/trunk_tags

The COSMO and COSMO-CLM versions in the vendor/vendor_tags are identical to the official releases done by DWD and CLM community. Absurd permissions are however changed and useless files and directories are removed (*.htm, /work, ...). We don't guarantee that these versions compile and run properly. We simply import them from the releasers (ECMWF server and CLM community website).

The COSMO and COSMO-CLM versions in the trunk/trunk_tags are amended with a more practical makefile, compilation options specific to the CSCS machines, a shell script for compilation, and eventual bug fixes which are not already implemented in an official version. Furthermore, we guarantee that these versions compile and run properly on the CSCS machines from a technical point of view (also with debug options) when using standard configurations. We don't guarantee the scientific correctness of the code. You should simply have a bit less issues running these versions on CSCS machines as compared to the vendor versions. We thus recommand you to use these versions rather than the vendor versions.
